Confrontation at the Abandoned Outpost
Talon Loneblade arrived at the outpost before the others. He came face-to-face with a Shadow.

As point man for the group I enaged it first. However, I have never engaged a foe more powerful before. I was ill equiped to handle the task and was almost put to the sword immediately. I fled and the main group met it. As I healed it sent the remainder of the group into choas, and scattered them across the mountainside. Some lone warror named "Conan" drew it up the mountain. Conan led it into an old smithy and I locked it in. Together we prepared, entered, and destroyed the creature.

The group gathered at the lifestone at the top of the hill. The next thing I knew an older Gharun man was running around the roof of the same house. Shouts of "Stop him!" came from many. Before much could be done he jumped off a cliff behind the old Sho settlement. I jumped down partway and ran the remainder of the distance. When I found him at the base of the cliff... he was dead. I can only assume that he knew some were coming around to capture him. If he intended to be dead, he should have waited. I would have surely plunged my blade into our villian just a swiftly had I caught him.

When I returned to the hilltop the group had formed inside the old smithy. It seems in the fool's rush to meet death he dropped a letter. I do not recall the full detail but he was involved in the kidnapping of Basho. Before I could soak in the full detail some materialized at the lifestone. It seems another shadow was about. I went with the man, quickly followed by everyone else. A battle ensued that I am sure all will remember. After many charges, and many more retreats, our foes we slain. The Shadows Lt., two shadows, and a shadow child, had done harm to the group as well. I know I was sent to the Lifestone twice. Other suffered greater losses than I.

The text of the Gharun's letter can be found here. Certainly, all that had transpired during the day raised more questions than it answered. The group settled in to make sense of what they had found.
